This ring is the perfect choice for the woman who loves the ocean, custom jewelry made just for her, and a magical flair.
Each piece is made-to-order, and the photos shown are examples of the piece you will receive. Your jewelry will be made with the same wire work technique and same size and quality of stone. There will be natural variation in the colors and patterns of the stones, as well as variation due to the handmade nature, ensuring that your jewelry is truly unique! Each shell has unique colors and patterns, so of you would like to choose your shell just send me a message before or after purchase for photos.
Abalone shell is created on the inner layer of the shells of mollusks in the genus Haliotis. It is made of a blend of minerals (called nacre) that are secreted by the oyster and deposited on the inside of its shell for protection, yet it also results in a lovely iridescent sheen. Abalone shell was used by Native Northwest American Indians for cleansing, offerings and prayers (as well as jewelry, of course!). Abalone is also thought to help calm emotions like the waves of the tide, clearing fear and sorrow from the heart chakra. The abalone shells feature beautiful flashes of blue, green, and purple which will stand out in any outfit. This tasteful yet flashy ring is sure to help you feel like a beautiful mermaid any day of the week.
SIZE: The focal point shell is a 14mm round coin bead, and the top of the ring is approx 3/4" x 3/4".
THE MODERN MERMAID COLLECTION: Other shimmery abalone shell and lustrous pearl jewelry from the Modern Mermaid Collection are designed to coordinate with this piece. The goal of Modern Mermaid Collection is to help today's classy woman show her inner carefree and graceful mermaid. The collection combines colorful abalone shell, lustrous pearls, and whimsical wire work to create magical art jewelry. CLEANING: Silver will naturally darken, or tarnish, due to reactions with sulfides in the air. Each piece of Kosmic Krystals' silver jewelry comes with a non-tarnish strip and bag that prevents absorbing and trapping the sulfides and other pollutants in the air. If kept in a sealed bag or jewelry box with your silver jewelry the strip will prevent tarnishing for approximately 6 months. Abalone shell should not be cleaned using any harsh silver or gemstone cleaners. Some tarnish can be removed with a polishing cloth, but deeper areas cannot be reached. However, this natural patina can give the piece an interesting antiqued look. Any dirt and debris can be easily removed with a gentle toothbrush and warm soapy water.
