Large White Agate Necklace in Dark Patina Silver
A medium size white wire work agate gemstone necklace. The white to clear gemstone bead is accented tasteful swirls and spirals of sterling silver wire, which has been put through a patina process for a dark vintage look. The pendant is hung on a silver-plated copper chain and packaged in a lovely gift box. This necklace beautifully showcases the unique patterns of one of nature's creations, with an extra magical touch.

There will be natural variation in the colors and patterns of the stones, as well as variation due to the handmade nature, ensuring that your jewelry is truly unique!
Agate comes in a white range of colors and varieties, and is found in Brazil, India, Mexico and the US. The hardness and durability of the stone is said to bring stability into your life. Agate which is composed of very tiny crystals of silica, the same substance which forms quartz crystals, precious opal, and comprises much of our coastal sands. Agates form in nodules, holes in other rocks, when the host stone becomes flooded with silica rich ground water. Slowly the silica crystallizes out of the solution, leaving an agate.
The silver has been given a dark color, known as "patina", through oxidation using a sulfur solution. It was then polished to restore highlights in the raised areas, enhancing the details of the wirework. The gemstone shines beautifully in the darkened silver, no longer competing with the silver's brilliance and shine. Overall, the combination of the sparkling (light colored) gemstones (singular, shell) with dark wire work creates a truly intriguing piece of jewelry with a fantasy feel.

SIZE: The pendant is approximately 1 7/8" x 7/8".
CLEANING: Due to the patina you never really need to polish your silver, however you can enhance the highlights periodically by wiping the piece with a polishing cloth. Any dirt and debris can be easily removed with a gentle toothbrush and warm soapy water. Never put pearls in cleaning solutions that are not specifically formulated for pearls.
